Alpine Valley came into existence as a continuation of nature sounds captured in the French Alps in autumn and spring ~ but even though it's probably a purely impressionist music, thoughts of environmental anxiety are inseparable from it for me. Melting glaciers are hanging over the valley, and even though they did the same for thousands of years, now they're about to be gone for good. Even though these two tracks don't represent the "reality" (there are just too many ways to capture nature sounds on the same spot), they still document a personal feeling, a mixture of awe and certain acceptance of the fact that everything changes. Alps are still young geologically speaking, but they will be gone at some point as well, everything will change. But who knows if we will be there to witness. And as much as I wanted to "capture the moment" with this music, the music itself can only be heard with the passage of time, so the moment continues, changes, turns into a cycle, a spiral of time revolving around the initial impression ~ and changes it as well. But that's the beauty of it, isn't it?
